So I’ve toyed with the blog lately. There’s a new theme which is edited slightly by a friend and I’ve been looking a bit more into the internet stuff. Looks like there are a number of possibilities online, only most of them aren’t worth the time. Most incentive based offers are one example. You know the ones where you get a “free gift” if you sign up for a handful of programs using your credit card. I’ve seen a couple people go through the hassle of trying to get those recurring payments canceled from their cards.
Also are the common survey taking and reading of emails. They’re a similar waste of time as most will only give you a few pennies for you time, hardly worth it on their own really. The idea is to really get as many people below you to sign up to get a recurring fee for each email the people under you read or survey they take. Basically, it’s a pyramid scheme. Luckily, most of them are free so it’s hard to fill ripped off if they’re only a waste of time.
The best ones I’ve found so far are the revenue sharing websites that pay me to write content. Associated Content, Hubpages, Bukisa, and Info Barrel are the ones I’m trying out right now with varying success. I find it difficult at times to write articles that people are interested in and want to read about. Although, I’m improving the last couple articles I’ve written have gotten a couple thousand views overall and look to continue that trend down the line. Should pay me a nice little recurring sum over time which is nice.
Until next time, I’m out.
My kids are avid card collectors. I collect some too if nothing else to have something in common with them this way they can trade cards and do some of the other social things that can be done with collectible cards. So in a way it is a hobby of sorts. Because I was curious, I looked up the values of some of these cards, particularly I wanted to know how much pokemon cards are worth because that is what the kids are most into.
And what did I find? Some of these cards are damn expensive! I guess I’m not completely surprised as getting the card packs themselves aren’t cheap either, but I noticed some cards could easily be sold for upwards of 100 dollars. It’s kind of crazy actually. My kids actually have some worth about
It all depends on the rarity of the card (how many were made), and any special features associated with them such as holographic (shiny) printing, print errors, popularity of the monster thing on the card, etc. The mark-up on these things are incredible in the after market. I could definitely see how a hobbyist shop could easily make some money, particularly if the items are being sold online, it wouldn’t cost much to ship individual or small groups of cards. Or perhaps it’s just the newly inspired entrepreneur in me.
I’m a big fan of the Arctic Monkeys and pretty much anything they do. With that said I found an amusing little video online featuring their song, “Dancing Shoes.” I’m not sure what the movie clips are edited from but reversing the video and the way it was cut overall was just really cool. Take a look at the url below.

With the economy going down the shitter every few years and having the potential to be laid off every year, I’m starting to take the time to find some extra opportunities to make money on the side. I’m not a fan of possibly being the victim of an employer pulling the plug on my job cutting off my income stream. Now it’s time to start looking at ways to create new options for myself. They don’t need to be completely new jobs now or down the line, however, a little extra cash on the side would be highly appreciated.
Now one of the new exciting things you always see on TV is making money online with your own website. Unfortunately, those are typically marketing scams, meant only for you to sell the program on to the next unsuspecting fool. Instead, I’m going a little slower route and testing out the waters with this blog. That alone is enough technology for me to learn for a little while. I’m also going to earn income online using some revenue sharing websites out there. Associated Content and Hubpages look like really good options actually.
Straying from the online world I’m looking at possibly expanding some of my hobbies. My garden is one instance as I could possibly sell some simple produce locally at a farmer’s market, which in turn would make a little extra money in addition to what I save by growing my own vegetables. Another option is making some sort of trinket in the garage, I like making small little doodads for the house and perhaps I could come up with some sort of decoration that I could make and sell part time. I believe bird houses are the classic example of this.
Those are just a few of the ideas I may be heading. I’m not sure what is going to really pan out but the options are limitless and I have some free time for sure.
